Understanding Vintage Home Design

Vintage is completely on trend and although many of us want to incorporate this type of décor into our home we’re not exactly sure how to. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you’re designing a vintage living room.

Traditional Fireplace

A traditional fireplace and its original surround are a brilliant key feature of a vintage living room. Marble or stone fireplaces and surrounds give the immediate feel of a Victorian home but if you want to combine vintage and contemporary consider a wooden surround that you can paint and make your own.

Vintage Accessories

To get the perfect vintage style you need to add in some traditional or maybe quirky accessories. From the traditional manual dial telephone to glass milk bottles and jars you can really make your home feel unique and vintage at the same time.

Focus on the Books

A large bookcase packed with leather bound editions looks just perfect in any vintage living room. If you’re really looking to perfect vintage style then have your TV shut away in a cupboard with doors and focus on classic bookcases.

Flower Power

Flowers are great for perfecting a retro look whether you have a patterned vase, subtly flowered wallpaper it will make all the difference.

Your home can be transformed into a vintage paradise with a few small changes, and even if you implement one or two of these you’ll be well on your way to vintage style.
