Pack Your Bags :: Missouri Travel Ideas #VisitMO

This post brought to you by Missouri Division of Tourism. All opinions are 100% mine.
Are you considering your summer travel options? Why not try someplace unexpected? Why not try Missouri?! Here are some things that might surprise you about Missouri.
1.       Missouri has 51 state parks.
2.       Bone Terre Mine is the world’s largest freshwater dive resort.
3.       Lake of the Ozarks has more miles of shoreline than California.
4.       The 225-mile Katy Trail is the largest hike-to-bike trail in America.
5.       Did someone say float trip? Google it if you have no idea what it is.
I can easily find wonderful things for my husband and I to do in Missouri. If I were planning my own trip, we would start in St. Louis. St. Louis . . . the Gateway to the West. This metropolis offers everything from industries in biotechnology to breweries, professional sports to riverboat casinos, history to quaint neighborhoods, gardens to festivals, walking trails to river excursions. The fabric of the region is woven with the many colorful threads and textures of its ancestors and modern-day explorers from around the world. Don't forget the food and the shopping. No matter what you’re looking to do, see or explore, you can find it in St. Louis. I would start with a brewery tour and then a trip to the ballpark! My husband loves baseball and brews so he would love to see the Anheuser-Bush Brewery and then catch a St. Louis Cardinals game!
We are such foodies. I would love to take a food tour of Kansas City! Kansas City, known as the Heart of America, was founded in 1850. It is often referred to as the City of Fountains. Here you’ll find an incredible variety of things to see and do, from professional sports to dazzling nightlife, historical attractions to great music venues, world-class museums to Kansas City barbecue. You can’t help but feel at home in Kansas City. I think we would start the morning with Eggtc. and enjoy some omelets and crepes. For lunch we could head to SPIN! and enjoy some traditional Italian pizzas. For dinner it would have to be Room 39 with white tablecloths, an award-winning wine list and a four-course tasting menu that changes daily and uses farmer-driven produce and meat.
I would also like to explore Lake of the Ozarks! The Lake of the Ozarks is Missouri’s largest lake destination, with more than 1,150 total miles of shoreline, including a main channel that stretches 92 miles. There is an abundance of water activities here that we would love to explore. We would stay in a rustic cottage and dine at restaurants from franchised fast food eateries to one-of-a-kind gourmet dining to wineries. My husband would love the top rated championship golf courses. I would love the craft shops and outlet malls!
We would end our Missouri trip in wine country. Missouri is best-enjoyed one sip at a time. Visit one of our nationally-recognized wineries or critique our locally-made—and in some cases globally-enjoyed—beers. Hoist a glass to a fervent thirst for living and enjoying the fruits of our beautiful countryside. 120 wineries? Oh my. So much so sip – I mean explore!
