7 Spring Nail Care Tips

Spring is here! How do your nails look after being dry and brittle all winter? Keep your hands and nails looking healthy with these tips from Skyy Hadley and products from Lauren B. Beauty! Many people don’t realize, but taking care of your cuticles is the best way to keep your nails looking their best. Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Nail Salon, is a firm believer in tending to your cuticles for strong and lustrous nails. Follow her tips below for the best results.

Tip #1 // Always use a cuticle oil/cream. Having dry, scraggly cuticles is not a good look and may even make you want to pick them, which can lead to a bacterial infection. Using a cuticle oil can make your manicure last longer. Keeping the nail beds and areas around your nails moisturized will make the nail polish stay in place longer. A cuticle oil is a great way to make a two day old manicure look like you just walked out of the salon.

Tip #2 // If you don’t have cuticle oil or cream available, you can use anything from your kitchen! Olive oil, baby oil, or even Vaseline are quick go-to solutions.

Tip #3 // NEVER cut your cuticles, they should only be pushed back. Cuticles are designed to protect your fingers from infections, and bacteria. You should only cut the dry skin around the nail and not the actual cuticles themselves.

Tip #4 // To keep your hand and nails looking and feeling fabulous, these luxurious products from Lauren B. Beauty are the ultimate in nail care innovation.

This is an eco-friendly exfoliator, potent anti-ager, and hydrator in one! You can brighten, soothe, heal chapping and protect your hands against environmental damage. Vitamin E, Aloe Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Swiss-derived green apple stem cells combine to revive and smooth the thin skin on your hands. I have been using it during my manicure and I love the fresh, youthful look I get in under a minute!

Tip #6 // Rub on Lauren B. Beauty Polishing Hand Scrub, after removing polish to help soften ragged cuticles, lift nail staining, and create a smooth canvas for fresh nail polish. Then use once a day to keep hands silky and glowing all year long! Keep a tube in the shower and one by the sink.

This ultra-rich lightweight cuticle oil is a custom blend of 12 ultra-pure plant, nut and flower oils designed to quickly hydrate your dry cuticles. It is packed with amino-acids which promotes healing and revival to hands in need. I use it all the time to keep my cuticles soft and hydrated.

Tip #7 // Apply a liberal amount of Lauren B. Beauty Cuticle Oil, using the brush applicator. Concentrate at the base of your nails near the cuticle. Next, rub the remaining oil into your hands. Lastly, if painting your nails, wash your hands and nails with soap and warm water to remove oils prior to painting.

This hand creme is a super rich indulgence. Laced with antioxidants, peptides, and amino acids, this remarkably non-greasy hydrator leaves hands ridiculously smooth and soft. A special delivery system ensures that moisturizing agents sink in fast to plump and soothe for hours. And the heavenly orchid and peony scent alone will make you want a lifetime supply. Really, it smells so good!

Try this serum for fragile, brittle nails that refuse to grow. This sheer blend of amino acids, antioxidants, Vitamins E and C, peptides and biotin sinks in instantly to boost natural nail growth and strength. Brush it directly onto your nails before applying polish, or on bare nails once or twice a day. I have had such trouble growing my nails out this winter. Finally with the help of Lauren B.'s nail growth serum, they are beginning to grow again!
