Don't Go Buggy This Summer

Outdoor entertaining is one of the great joys of spring and summer. Until, of course, the bugs invade. They just ruin everything! You want to get rid of them. But you also want to do so safely. In place of spray and pesticides, try a cluster of mosquito-repelling potted plants. Grouped together near a seating area on your deck or patio, they make a pretty and lush addition to your outdoor landscape while also protecting you and your guests. Check out One Kings Lane's article Easy Update: Mosquito-Repelling Potagerie for more information about how a trio of lush potted plants will have you saying good-bye to bug spray.

  1. i love one kings lane and that article is very helpful

  2. Wow this is interested . I have never heard about this before. I do hate using sprays and definately pesticides for bug protection. I love the flower pots and flowers. This is something I am going to check out - I love flowers too - thanks

  3. I had no idea mosquito-repellent plants even existed! I just moved to a new town that is quite "buggy" in the summer... I'm so excited to try this out. Thanks so much for sharing, my skin thanks you. :)

  4. I have tried numerous products to repel mosquitoes and none of them seem to work and I hate to slather myself with chemicals. I had no idea that the repellent plants were so beautiful! Even is they don't work they will still make a lovely statement!

  5. This sounds like a great way to make sure bugs do not ruin your summer. That is very interesting that I can use mosquito repellent plants to repel them. I do not like using Deet on my skin, but that is what I have to use to keep from getting bitten. I would rather have these plants around to get rid of mosquitoes.

  6. Thanks for this reminder! We have had tons of rain this year and I always forget which plants are good for this and the bugs seem very bad this year!

  7. Great article. We've been lucky here this summer with not too many bugs. I also use essential oils to repel bugs.
