Chinese Buffet Green Beans Recipe

I love green beans. It is my favorite side dish. One of my favorite restaurants, Bravo, makes these green beans that are amazing. I could never figure out how to make them. No Bravo is not a Chinese restaurant. It is Italian. But, this recipe I found on allrecipes is the closest thing I have found to making my beloved Bravo green beans at home. If you like the green beans you get at Chinese buffets, you will love these. There is a secret ingredient that I would have never guessed to add which gives them incredible flavor.

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon oil, peanut or sesame
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
Rinse and trim 1 pound fresh green beans.

Heat peanut oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

Stir in the garlic, and cook until the edges begin to brown, about 20 seconds.

Add the green beans; cook and stir until the green beans begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the sugar, oyster sauce, and soy sauce. Continue cooking and stirring for several minutes until the beans have attained the desired degree of tenderness.

Ta-dah! You have these amazing green beans that are bursting with flavor. I eat tons of seafood and it pairs very well with salmon (shown above). The secret ingredient is the oyster sauce. Who knew?! If you try this recipe let me know what you think!
