"I’m Having Their Baby" is Premiering on Oxygen 7/23 :: Enter to Win a $100 Visa Gift Card!

Hello my name is Lesli and I am a reality show junkie! A few of my favorites are on Oxygen. Their newest show, "I'm Having Their Baby", starts Monday, July 23 at 11/10c. Not all reality shows are obnoxious or based on competitions. Some are very deep and emotional. "I'm Having Their Baby" is a six-part docu-series that reveals the story that often goes untold. This is the story of young, pregnant women as they struggle to go through with the most difficult decision of their lives, whether or not to place their babies for adoption. These would-be moms face a mountain of inner turmoil as they search for potential adoptive parents as well as make their birth and transfer plans. Each episode follows two pregnant women who have made the choice to place their babies for adoption, and are dealing with the life changing decisions that follow. Each hour-long episode brings viewers into the adoption process by getting to know the birth mothers, and in some episodes the birth fathers and adoptive families.

Here are the facts. There are 6 million pregnancies a year in the US. 3 million of them are not planned. 14,000 end up in adoption. (Source: “I’m Having Their Baby” Intro) Yet we don't often hear about the very personal journeys and the mixed emotions that these 14,000 birth mothers face. These women struggle with an unplanned pregnancy and ultimately, decide whether or not to place their baby in the hands of another family. They all have one thing in common. Each woman wants the brightest future for her unborn child and a better life for herself.

Tune in to Oxygen on July 23 at 11/10c to watch their personal journeys unfold and join in on the OxygenLive Chat beginning at 11pm EST during the show.

  1. I would agree that it is a fascinating topic.

  2. This is just the most unbelievable thing anybody would put on TV. This is not something that a show should be about unless it's a documentary.. Not watching, sorry...

  3. I dont think its the best idea unless it ends up helping to prevent someone from choosing abortion over adoption, they better do it tastefully

  4. I think that it is a show that would be interesting to discuss with young girls- I do hope they show how difficult it all can be,

  8. I don't know. I am glad the parents didn't decide to end their child's life, but I don't really want to watch them giving them away either.

  9. I don't think I will be watching...too many emotions on television that should be kept private among the people that are involved.

  10. I think it's a great show. Very educational for people who are currently facing, or will face this option in their future.

  14. I think that the topic is very compelling, but I wonder if it's the best idea to turn it into a reality TV show. What about the privacy of the children involved?

  15. I think people need to know about this. This sounds like a great show to offer another view of teen pregnancy (or other unplanned pregnancy) in contrast to the show Teen Moms. There are other options out there people, babies don't have to die because of people's mistakes!

  16. I think its an interesting topic, though I cant see myself watching it for a long time. Adoption is a serious decision, though not one I will experience in my lifetime.

  35. I don't have any plans to watch this show ever. As the previous commenter said, this might be a great idea for a special documentary as it could provide useful information for those who need it, but that's clearly not what this is. This is just more sensationalist garbage, and I think it's very sad.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't know about this situation but I do know that adoption is so very personal. One of my sisters adopted a child but that is the only way she would be able to have a child due to cancer.

  37. I think it would be a good show, because like myself I was unable to have children and it’s a heartbreaking experience. The women who have the courage to allow their child to be given up for adoption should be praised because they too have a life long decision to make.

  125. I think that this show is a wonderful Idea to bring adoption into the spotlight. It is important for women to understand that adoption doesn't mean the birth mother doesn't love her child but that she either love the child enough to give the child a chance at a better life. Or she loves the future parents of the child enough to give them a chance to become parents that there would be no other way for them to become parents with out a birth mother's willingness to place a child for adoption.

  168. I don't think I will be watching due to it is kind of a touchy subject.

  169. I think it's going to be an intense show, but I think it's good for anyone who thinks they can give up the baby easily to see that it is tougher than they expect.

  170. I plan to watch this show tonight because although I have never given up a child for adoption I am currently thinking about adopting a child of my own. I admire these woman for their strength but could never give up a child of my own.

  172. Not sure why I can't see my post, but I am looking forward to this series. I am watching the first one with my 19 year old, who surprised us by having a little girl last fall...she knew that adoption or abortion was not an option she could live with but we have complete respect and awe of moms who can decide upon adoption. If the series is appropriate for our almost 13 year old, we will watch with her also AND our 15 year old son. I think would be a great show for teens to learn from, as long as the program is done honestly and with integrity.

    thanks!

  185. It seems like an interesting show. Adoption can be a great option for those who are unable to care for their baby. There are a lot of wonderful families who can care for the child.

  192. We always see stories on tv about the couples doing the adopting, but we never actually see the stories from the couple/women who are giving their child up for adoption. I think it will be a real eye-opener for us, as well as those who were on the show.

  193. I think it's going to be a very emotional program for all to see.
