I have always been someone who is on top of the latest trends in home design. I love to watch design shows on TV and I love to browse through design magazines. One of my favorite ways to go "design spotting" is to visit my favorite home furnishings store! They go out of their way to set up beautiful displays so you can really imagine what their furniture would look like in your home.
The first photo above shows a wall I discovered painted in teal and accented with peacock feathers! I love it! The hanging vases are the perfect touch for an accent wall.
Next, I found this fantastically unusual chandelier. How brilliant to use vintage flatware in a chandelier? It is just beautiful! It seems so obvious yet this is the first one I have seen!
I am someone who is NOT afraid of some color. I don't know why so many people think they have to stick to neutral colors in their home. Think outside the box and you will get dramatic and fabulous results like this teal/green combination. I love the stripes too. Adding the fabric panels really mutes it a bit if you are a little color shy.
Finally, if you can afford it, buy great furniture. I fell in love with this tall chair on the left. It just looks so grand. I can see it in an entryway or in a long hallway. The photo on the right shows a grey scheme that I thought looked great together.
You can do your own design spotting just about anywhere! Inspiration can be found where you least expect it. If you need some home design inspiration, check out the great boutiques in your hometown.
