Everyone hates waiting in lines. It is just about the only thing that can make the "Happiest Place On Earth" not so happy. Meredith Pierce is a mom who realized that the Disney lines could be transformed into a giant interactive game similar to I-Spy or Where’s Waldo. If you have been to any Disney theme park, you know that everything in the park has that special Disney magic. Even the lines!
Three solo trips to the park and 5,000 plus photos, videos and audio recordings later, Meredith finished Lots To Do In Line: Disneyland. It is comprised of questions, scavenger hunts and games specific to each of the 63 rides and attractions throughout the two parks. The activities draw on the park itself and all the answers can be found only in the lines. The idea is to keep families engaged with the park and each other while looking for answers and objects along the way. How awesome is this idea?! Since the answers are only in the lines, it provides a new activity immediately upon entering each new line, plus the books content can’t be exhausted on the plane or in the hotel. You have to be in line to enjoy it.
I was given a copy of the book to review. Although I couldn't go to Disneyland to try it out [darn] I am certain that this would add a whole new level of fun to your next trip to Disneyland. The book is very very easy to follow and it is laid out perfectly. You can even use this book in Fast Pass lines! There are certain questions marked with FP which can be seen from the Fast Pass lines. Meredith really thought of everything in this book. Some questions are multiple choice, some are yes/no, and some are find all of the items on this list. The book is divided by areas of the park so it will be easy to find the ride line you are looking for!
I also received the iPhone app. I am a "tech-y" person so I love the app version! It could not be easier to use! The app even lets you keep track of the scores of up to four people! There are 74 scavenger hunts for hidden queue treasure buried deep in the wait plus park-wide scavenger hunts for each of the parks. If you run out of questions in a line, there are even 22 collections which will have you scrutinizing your surroundings and even fellow guests to gain points.
My only wish was that there was a version for Walt Disney World! But when I finally do make it to Disneyland one day, my family will have something else to look forward to! Don't miss the magic before the ride!
